Madrid, October 19, 2026. On October 15, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid hosted BSD Data Days 2026, a forum that brought together clinicians, researchers, regulators and industry representatives around a single question: how to turn everyday clinical practice into scientific evidence that helps improve patient care.

The event, organized by BioSmartData (BSD) in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Fundación de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, ran from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in person, with a live online stream.
An agenda built around key questions
The program was organized into thematic blocks, each guided by a central question. After the institutional opening and the keynote lecture by [name], speakers explored what an algorithm must prove before it influences a clinical decision, how to turn real-world practice into publishable evidence, how evidence is generated in chronic pain, how regulation can turn trust into a competitive advantage, and why so many healthcare innovations fail to make it past the pilot stage.

AI and Real World Evidence: from algorithm to clinical decision
The first two blocks, moderated by Dr. Gil Rodas, focused on artificial intelligence technologies applied to healthcare and on the value of real-world data.
Chronic pain: generating evidence where it’s needed most
The chronic pain block, one of BSD’s core research areas, featured specialists such as Dr. Mikel Sánchez and Dr. Ferrán Abat.
Regulation and innovation: from trust to adoption
In the “Pitch Stop” format, participants discussed the role of regulation and ethics in the development of data-driven solutions. The innovation block then examined the barriers that keep so many healthcare projects from being implemented at scale.
BSD Insights 2026
The day closed with the presentation of BSD Insights 2026, where the BioSmartData team shared [results, updates or lines of work presented].
“Data Days was born from a very clear idea: that the data generated every day in the clinic shouldn’t stay in the clinic. Seeing clinicians, researchers, regulators and industry discussing together how to turn that information into evidence that benefits patients confirms that we’re heading in the right direction,” said María Cayuela, CEO of BioSmartData.
An event that’s here to stay
BSD Data Days 2026 reaffirms BioSmartData’s commitment to generating scientific evidence from real-world data and to creating spaces for dialogue between clinical practice, research and industry.
